Calvin E. Barker, Jr. joined the BB&T Leadership Development Program in
January 1992 after serving four years active duty in the U.S. Army. Throughout
his career, he served in various commercial positions, including market president
in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, and area executive for Southeast Tennessee
area surrounding Chattanooga. Barker spent eight years in credit as senior credit
officer serving the Maryland and Washington, D.C. regions and as a regional
loan administrator in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. In 2009, he was named as
president of the West Virginia North Region and then in January 2013, president
of the Maryland Region. In July 2015, Barker became president of the Valley
Region, headquartered in Roanoke, Virginia, extending from Winchester, Virginia,
in the East across the state to Big Stone Gap in the West, covering 36 counties and
comprised of 120 locations. In late 2019, Barker was named the Regional President
for Truist in Louisville, KY. He is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Appalachian
State University.
