The Exchange September 2025 Dean’s Message

September 25, 2025 Jill Wegenast

Dear friends of the College of Business,

Fall is one of my favorite times of year. The crisp air, the familiar sounds of the stadium on game day and the traditions of Homecoming bring back fond memories for all of us. It’s a season that connects our community across generations—students, alumni, faculty and friends—all united in our Cardinal pride.

This October, we will gather for Homecoming Week to celebrate those ties and honor one of our most distinguished alumni. I’m delighted that this year’s Wilson Wyatt Alumni Award will be presented to David Krebs ’75. David’s career journey—from public accounting to leadership at Humana, including his tenure as President and COO of Humana Puerto Rico—reflects the excellence and impact that define our graduates. His continued service to UofL and the Louisville community is truly inspiring, and I look forward to celebrating him with you. Other College of Business alumni who are receiving awards are Randy Bufford ’81, Alumnus of the Year, Larry Horn Jr. ’08, ’11, Alumni Ambassador Award and Kelly Hodges ’93, ’01, Student Affairs Legacy Award.

October also brings Raise Some L (October 21–22), our university-wide day of giving. This annual campaign is more than just a fundraiser—it’s a moment when the entire Cardinal family comes together to support our students and the work we do for the business community. Your generosity helps provide scholarships, enhance programs and strengthen the experiences that prepare our students to lead with integrity and purpose. I hope you will consider joining me in supporting the College of Business during this special event.

Since beginning my tenure here, I’ve had the privilege of meeting many of you and experiencing the incredible momentum of our College firsthand. From addressing faculty and staff in our first all-college meeting, to cheering on the Cards at my first UofL football game, to engaging with our student council and attending events that highlight Louisville’s leadership on the world stage, it has been a month full of energy, connection and promise. I was especially honored to represent the COB at the Global MBA graduation in Germany, and to participate in important community events such as the Gold Standard Optimal Aging Awards and Louisville Business First’s Forty Under 40.

As we move into this season of celebration, recognition and giving, I’m grateful for your continued partnership. Together, we are building on our traditions while shaping a vibrant future for our students and our community.

With gratitude,
Amy B. Henley
