New Director of the School of Accountancy

We are excited to announce that effective July 1, 2024, Dereck Barr-Pulliam will take on the roles of Director of the School of Accountancy and Director of the MSAA program.

Dereck Barr-Pulliam brings a wealth of expertise and experience to these positions. He is a Certified Public Accountant (TN) and a Certified Internal Auditor, holding a Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD in Accounting from the University of Mississippi. Dereck’s professional background includes significant experience in auditing.

Starting his academic journey in 2014 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Dereck joined the University of Louisville in 2019. He currently teaches auditing at both undergraduate and graduate levels. His research, which integrates psychology and economic theories, focuses on problem-solving in auditing and accounting contexts. His work has been featured in top-tier journals such as the Journal of Accounting Research, AUDITING: A Journal of Practice & Theory, Management Accounting Research, and the Journal of Accounting, Auditing & Finance. Dereck also serves on the editorial boards for Current Issues in Auditing and the Journal of Information Systems.

Beyond his academic achievements, Dereck is dedicated to service, participating in various committees and task forces at UofL and in the wider academic community. He holds leadership roles on the Board of Trustees for Louisville Collegiate School, the University Club of Louisville (Treasurer), Service for Humanity (Treasurer), the American Accounting Association (Audit Committee), the AICPA (Financial Instruments Task Force), and the IVSC (Technology Task Force).
