Immeasurable Impact

Talley Russell, PMBA student

Talley Russell was born and raised here in Louisville and serves as the Director of Government Affairs at Humana. Her love for the Louisville community shines through in her leadership and we are proud that she chose the University of Louisville to pursue her MBA.

“As a government affairs director at Humana, I find myself at the crossroads of business, government,
health, and community. It’s more than just a job—it’s a calling that resonates deeply with me. Being part
of a values-based organization headquartered right here in Louisville is a privilege. We invest in people
and communities, and I have the opportunity to shape those investments. Educating our government
partners about best practices and policy decisions that impact both Humana and the individuals we
serve drives my passion.

The Professional MBA (PMBA) has been a game-changer for me. It’s like having a powerful toolkit that
equips me with insights into various business practices. From strategy to finance and organizational
behavior, the PMBA has broadened my understanding. Now, I can predict changes within our business
more swiftly. But it’s not just about internal dynamics—I’ve learned how to communicate our needs
effectively, both within the company and externally. And here’s the exciting part: I connect our work and
investments to the broader economy, locally and beyond. It fuels my desire to leverage our business
impact for good in our community.

Now, let’s talk about this transformative journey. Yes, the workload is substantial, but the impact is
immeasurable. The PMBA has taught me how to prioritize, manage my time, and get things done
efficiently. I’m incredibly grateful for this special time, and I couldn’t do it without the unwavering
support of my family, colleagues, and Humana. They’re on this journey with me, recognizing the value of
investing in my growth.”
