In this episode of FranchiseU!, Kathy sits down with Randy Shacka, President of Two Men and a Truck. Shacka shares the company’s history from a one-location small business, to being a franchisor, to being acquired by an internationally-known company. Shacka specifically discusses Two Men and a Truck’s corporate values which have remained the same through all stages of the company’s development.

Randy Shacka got his start at the Two Men and a Truck corporate office in Lansing, Michigan as an intern in the marketing department while finishing his degree in engineering at Michigan State University. After completing his internship in 2002, Shacka accepted an opportunity in Florida to help open a new franchise in Seminole County. It was in his role as Operations Manager for Two Men and a Truck Seminole that he learned every aspect of the job from a franchise perspective – from mover to manager and everything in between. In 2004, Shacka returned to the corporate office as a Franchise Development Specialist tasked with assisting current franchisees in growing their business and adding new franchisees.

Over the past two decades, Shacka has served as a Franchise Development Specialist, Director of Operations, Chief Development Officer (CDO), and Chief Operating Officer (COO). Shacka took over as president on August 1, 2012, a position formerly held by founding family member, Brig Sorber.

In 2021, Two Men and a Truck was acquired by ServiceMaster® Brands. Randy led that transition with the Two Men and a Truck team, and today, continues to serve as president while holding a position on the ServiceMaster® Brands leadership team alongside the leaders of six other franchised service brands. Shacka has played an integral role in developing process improvements and new technologies that have chartered the company toward continuous brand growth and numerous achievements.

His vast experience at franchise and corporate levels provides him unique insight as he continues to lead the development of new tools and systems that allow the Two Men and a Truck brand, team members, and franchisees to thrive.

He’s a graduate of Michigan State University with a degree in applied engineering sciences (AES) and is affiliated with many leadership groups including the Young President’s Organization (YPO), Franchise Mini MBA Club, Franchise Training Network, Franchise World Network, and International Franchise Association (IFA). Shacka received the Applied Engineering Sciences Distinguished Alumni Award in May 2013.
