AIM Equine Scholarship
AIM Scholarships – awarded to EIP majors with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA who demonstrate personal development and leadership outside the classroom through documented participation in equine-related events and programs approved by the Equine Industry Program Scholarship Committee. These events must be approved in advance of attendance and include: KENA meetings (KY Horse Council); RSO officer positions; Galbreath Award seminar; equine workshops; volunteer at not-for-profit equine events; equine and industry seminars. Points are awarded for each event and applicants must complete a minimum of 10 points to be eligible for the scholarships. Ten points must be completed by March 1 of each year.

Initiative to take charge of your own personal development and to ignite your enthusiasm to build industry relationships; leadership and communication skills; and self-motivation necessary to succeed in today’s workplace.
Merit optimizing your personal development with scholarship in the classroom, leadership roles on teams and groups; participation in networking events; providing service through volunteering with local equine-related organizations and events.
You may only use an event one (1) time each academic year for qualifying points. If the event is required for a class or class assignment, it doesn’t qualify. If events aren’t listed below you can submit an event for approval to Terri Burch. You also must provide proof of attending an event such as a registration receipt of having a signed note from an officer, advisor, or official of the qualifying event that lists the event name, and date of attendance.
Qualifying Events/Point Value
- R&R Club or Show Team Officer 0.5 point
(for one academic year) - UofL RSO Club Membership 0.5 point
(for one academic year) - Volunteer Participation at IHSA or ISSRA horse show 0.5 point
(4 hour minimum) - Volunteer Participation at R&R Club Fundraiser Event 0.5 point
(4 hour minimum) - Volunteer Participation at UofL Eventing Team horse show 0.5 point
(4 hour minimum) - Volunteer Participation at UofL Polo Club event 0.5 point
(4 hour minimum) - KENA Networking Event 1.0 point
- KEEP Conference 1.0 point
- USEF Conference 1.0 point
- Galbreath Award Dinner 1.0 point
- Volunteer at a non-profit equine organization 1.0 point
(8 hour minimum) - Attend Fasig Tipton or Keeneland Sales 1.0 point
(4 hour minimum) - Kentucky Horse Park Event 1.0 point
- Kentucky Horse Council Event 1.0 point
- Kentucky Horse Racing Commission Meeting 1.0 point
(attend open meeting) - Kentucky Extension Event 1.0 point
