Dean Amy Henley congratulates a College of Business student at the spring 2026 Graduation Celebration

May has been an incredibly meaningful month for the College of Business and for me personally.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve had the opportunity to celebrate alongside our students, alumni and friends of the college at events including our Undergraduate Celebration, Graduate Student Celebration, Golden Alumni Medallion Ceremony and University Commencement. I also enjoyed attending the Equine Awards Celebration, connecting with alumni like Bill Ready and Jane Goldstein and meeting with our new College of Business Student Council as they begin shaping the future student experience at the college.

One of the most impactful experiences of the month was traveling to South Africa with our graduate students. Experiencing another culture and business environment together created powerful conversations about leadership, innovation and global perspective. Watching our students engage with business leaders, ask thoughtful questions and immerse themselves in experiences far outside their everyday environment was inspiring. It was a reminder that some of the most important learning moments happen when we step beyond the classroom and see the world through a broader lens.

Commencement was another unforgettable moment this month. Hearing from College of Business alumnus and Pinterest CEO Bill Ready was especially meaningful. His story of perseverance, hard work and discovering opportunity through education resonated deeply with our graduates as they prepare to begin their next chapter. As a first-generation student, Bill reminded our graduates that success is not always about having a perfect roadmap, but about staying curious, continuing to grow and being willing to take thoughtful risks.

To our newest graduates: congratulations. We are proud of all you have accomplished and excited for all that is ahead of you. While your time as a student may be ending, your connection to the College of Business is only beginning. You will always be part of this community.
