What Is Cardinal Flight?
Cardinal Flight is the College of Business experiential learning program for undergraduate business students at the University of Louisville. Through meaningful on- and off-campus experiences, you'll apply what you learn in the classroom, build career-ready skills and explore future career opportunities.
Aligned with the NACE Career Readiness Competencies, Cardinal Flight helps you develop the skills employers value most, including career and self-development, communication, critical thinking, leadership, professionalism, teamwork and technology.

Frequently asked questions
No. Cardinal Flight is an optional, voluntary experiential learning program.
Cardinal Flight is available to College of Business undergraduate students at the University of Louisville.
No. Participation in Cardinal Flight does not guarantee employment, internships, job offers or specific career outcomes.
Cardinal Flight helps students build the skills, experiences and connections employers value, giving students a competitive advantage as they pursue their career goals.
No. Students do not need to complete experiences in all three levels (Engage, Applied and High Impact Experiences).
Students must earn 100 points to complete Cardinal Flight. Engage Experiences may contribute a maximum of 50 points toward completion. The remaining points must be earned through Applied and/or High Impact Experiences.

Experiences must align with Cardinal Flight requirements and support the development of career readiness skills connected to the NACE Career Readiness Competencies.

Experiences must have been completed while you were enrolled as a University of Louisville student. Experiences completed before college enrollment do not qualify.
No. Cardinal Flight is a co-curricular experiential learning program and does not provide academic credit for completed experiences.
If you are seeking academic credit for an experience, you must complete the separate academic approval process through the College of Business before beginning the experience.
Yes, an internship may qualify as a Cardinal Flight Applied Experience if it meets program requirements. However, Cardinal Flight approval and internship academic credit approval are separate processes.
Students seeking academic credit for a College of Business internship must complete the required internship approval process through the Ulmer Career Management Center.
Submitting an internship for Cardinal Flight credit does not mean the internship has been approved for academic credit.
Students who participated in the previous Cardinal Flight digital badge program may resubmit eligible experiences through the new Cardinal Flight Blackboard page for review under the updated program requirements.
Beginning August 3, 2026, Cardinal Flight will transition from a digital badge program to a Certificate of Recognition program.
Students who complete the digital badge requirements by August 2, 2026 will receive the digital badge and honors cord under the previous program. Students completing requirements after this transition will use the new Cardinal Flight Blackboard page and earn a Certificate of Recognition and honors cord.

Students submit experiences and required documentation through the Cardinal Flight Blackboard page.
The Blackboard page provides access to program requirements, submission instructions, resources and progress tracking.
Access to the Cardinal Flight Blackboard page is provided by the Cardinal Flight administrator for current and recently enrolled College of Business undergraduate students.
