No. You can meet with a mentor even if you are simply trying to plan ahead, get organized or make better financial decisions.
Yes. Money Matters Mentors is a free student support service.
No. Money Matters Mentors are trained peer mentors, not professional financial advisers. They can help you think through common student financial questions and connect you with appropriate campus resources when needed.
Mentors can help you understand where to start and connect you with the right office or resource, but they do not replace the Student Financial Aid Office and cannot make decisions about aid, scholarships, loans or billing.
Students can schedule an appointment through CardSmart using their UofL login. Once you sign in select "Make an Appointment" in the top right. Then choose "Money Matters"
Appointment availability may vary by semester and mentor schedule.
If you are facing an urgent issue, such as food insecurity, housing instability, a billing deadline or another immediate concern, please use the listed campus resources or contact the appropriate university office directly. A mentor can help you navigate resources, but urgent needs may require direct support from a university office.
Yes. Appointments are private, one-on-one conversations between you and your mentor.
Information shared during an appointment will remain confidential, except in situations involving an immediate safety concern or other circumstances where reporting is required.
