Step into the spotlight! The University of Louisville College of Business is excited to host the first annual Cardinal Sales Competition – a supportive, real-world opportunity for students interested in or exploring sales careers to gain experience, connect with employers, and compete for cash prizes.
This internal sales competition is open exclusively to University of Louisville students, providing a comfortable environment to practice, learn, and showcase your sales skills before moving on to larger, external competitions.

Event details
- 10–15 UofL students will participate in short 15–minute role-play – just like a real sales meeting
- Receive professional feedback from sales leaders and recruiters
- Connect with industry professionals from our corporate sponsors at the networking reception
- Celebrate at the awards ceremony with your peers
You’ll receive all case details and materials ahead of time, along with guidance on what to expect during your role-play. Most students spend 1–2 hours preparing, reviewing the buyer information, and planning their approach. A brief Teams kickoff meeting will be held before the event to answer questions and ensure you feel confident going in.
Professionalism and enthusiasm! Participants should:
- Be on time and dressed in professional attire
- Actively engage in both the Networking Reception and Sales Competition
- Come ready to learn, connect, and have fun
- Completion of or enrollment in MKT 360
- Apply by October 24
- 1st Place – $1,000
- 2nd Place – $750
- 3rd Place – $500
*Prizes will be awarded through Financial Aid. Existing aid may be impacted and/or funds will be applied to past due balances.
This competition is more than a showcase – it’s a hands-on learning experience designed to help you build confidence, sharpen your communication skills, and prepare for career success. You’ll also connect directly with sponsors and recruiters who are eager to meet UofL’s emerging sales talent.

Students completing the program gain skills in consultative, relationship-based selling, experience in objection handling, needs analysis and closing techniques, practical experience through role-plays, simulations and live client projects and readiness to contribute immediately in entry-level sales roles.
