Former Associate Professor Remembered for Humor and Kindness, Inspired Generations of Students
We are saddened to announce the passing of former Associate Professor of Management and Entrepreneurship Bob Myers, who, for 56 years, served the College of Business as an assistant dean and department chair, and also dedicated his time to numerous community and nonprofit boards. Most importantly, he taught with heart and humor, a storyteller who inspired generations of learners. He was a trusted voice, characterized by quiet dedication, steady leadership, and a generous heart. Through his kindness, support and commitment to his students, he built a legacy that lives on through generations of graduates, colleagues and friends who carry his lessons forward. He was, in every way, part of the foundation on which our college stands.
Alumnus Don Snow ’77 captured it best: “I still remember the enthusiasm Bob had for the work — and for us. He understood where I was coming from, balancing school, work and a young family. He motivated me then, and his influence has never left me.” Numerous colleagues echoed Snow’s sentiment, reflecting on the care he gave each student — not only as learners, but as people. Professor of Finance and former Dean Charlie Moyer said, “I can’t tell you how many times I saw Bob taking a student to lunch to help them cope with their studies and their lives.” Associate Dean for Programs and former Interim Dean Jeff Guan noted that “Bob Myers will be best remembered for his genuine care for his students.”
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, December 7, from 12:00 PM - 1 PM at Pearson Funeral Home in Louisville, Kentucky.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to the Bob Myers Honorary Scholarship Fund, created to support incoming students in need: bit.ly/bobmyersuofl
