Where are the seminars held?
Most seminars are held at the University of Louisville’s ShelbyHurst Campus.
Free parking is provided. Seven to ten days prior to the seminar, participants will receive a campus map via email.
What is your cancellation policy?
A full refund or transfer will be granted if requested at least fourteen days prior to the seminar’s start date. We will accept a substitute at any time up to the seminar start date. You are responsible for full payment if you cancel less than fourteen days prior to the start date or do not attend the seminar.
What happens in the event of inclement weather?
In the event of inclement weather, please check the university’s home page at www.louisville.edu for a weather notice, or call the university’s general phone number at 502.852.5555. A decision regarding morning/daytime class cancellations or delays is usually made by 6:00 a.m. If the university is on a delayed schedule then your Professional Development seminar will begin at that delayed time. If credit classes have been canceled, then your Professional Development seminar has also been canceled. We will notify you when your class will be re-scheduled.
For afternoon classes, a decision regarding class cancellations is usually made by 3:00 p.m. If evening credit classes have been canceled, then your seminar has been canceled also. You will be offered a make-up session, which will be added to the end of the class schedule, unless an alternative date is determined together by the instructor and the students in the class.
Can you receive a tax credit or deduction for these workshops?
Depending on income, those who self-pay for continuing education workshops may be eligible for lifetime learning credits. Consult your tax advisor for specifics.
Does UofL offer a guarantee?
If you are not completely satisfied with the return on your time and money investments, we will refund your tuition fee in full. Call us at 502.852.6456 regarding any issues.
How do I check the remaining requirements for my certificate program?

After you complete your certificate program requirements, you must complete the Certificate Request Form. Certificates will be available for pick up approximately four weeks after the request is received.

The following FAQs pertain to our Project Management Certificate Program.
Will I become a Project Management Professional® (PMP) after I complete your project management certificate program?
No, however, participants who successfully complete our Project Management Certificate program will meet formal project management education requirements for PMP® exam eligibility. Please note that only PMP certification holders will earn Professional Development Units (PDUs). Learn more about exam eligibility requirements.
How long does it take to earn my certificate from UofL?
If you complete the regular Spring or Fall session, you will earn your certificate in 16 weeks. Our Summer Intensive offers an accelerated option to earn your certificate in just eight weeks.
How do I become a PMP®?
You will have to apply for and pass the PMP® exam administered by the governing body, the Project Management Institute® (PMI). Individuals who take our
- Fundamentals of Project Management
- Project Management: Practical Application. These seminars will earn a Certificate in Project Management from the University of Louisville and fulfill the formal project management education requirement to sit for the PMI’s PMP® exam.
- We also offer a 12-week PMP® Exam Facilitated Study course. For the latest exam criteria, please refer to the Project Management Professional Credential Handbook located on the Project Management Institute’s (PMI) website.
Will I earn PDUs?
You will earn PDUs through our certificate program only if you are a certified PMP®.
- Fundamentals of Project Management (12 PDUs)
- Project Management: Practical Application (36 PDUs)
- PMP® Exam Facilitated Study (36 PDUs) and will help prepare you for the PMI’s PMP® exam and meets the formal education requirement for the exam.
How qualified are your instructors?
Our instructors are well qualified to teach the project management courses. They are certified PMPs and work daily in this area.
What are the Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR) for PMP® credentials?
For the PMP certification, individuals must earn 60 PDUs every three years. As a credential holder, individuals will participate in the Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR) program. Under the CCR program, you are required to participate in professional development activities that provide professional development units (PDUs). By taking our Practical Application seminar, participants can earn 36 PDUs towards their CCR.
Can I skip the Fundamentals seminar and enroll in the Practical Application seminar directly?
Yes, if you can provide proof of successful completion of a college level project management course or equivalent training in the workplace.

Are these courses for credit?
Since these are professional development courses, no college credit is awarded. However, these classes are eligible for credit as a part of a prior learning assessment. Any credit awarded through the prior learning assessment will apply towards the B.S. in Organizational Leadership and Learning within University of Louisville College of Education & Human Development.
