Sixteen grad student teams competed for a $20,000 grand prize in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada at the Stu Clark Investment Competition March 14-15. Two Entrepreneurship MBA teams from the University of Louisville College of Business were invited to attend.
Appro Therapeutics (Melissa Buddeke, Christopher Barton, Jordan Davis, Divya Jagadish, Will Morris) presented their product Asserta-B, a novel cancer therapeutic, along with a biomarker to predict patient response, with demonstrated effectiveness in destroying SOX9-overexpressing cancer cells.
Systemica Health (Hunter Gerlach, Justin Breitenstein, Shalin Shah) introduced PlaqAway, a dentist-applied varnish, which contains a patent-pending peptide technology used to fight periodontal disease.
Accompanied by Faculty Coach Professor Van Clouse, Systemica Health advanced to the Stu Clark Investment Competition finals, while Appro Therapeutics delivered a great presentation but didn’t advance. Systemica went on to win the Idea Pitch ($1,000) and placed third in the finals ($5,000) at the Stu Clark Investment Competition. Congratulations to both teams for proudly representing the University of Louisville MBA programs.
