October 2009 - Princeton Review Rankings

The Princeton Review's annual publication of the Best 301 graduate business schools in the US was recently released.  Their review of the University of Louisville MBA programs is most complimentary - the best we have ever had.  This is a reflection on our new program format, and the very hard work from our staff and faculty, plus the high quality of our students. The rating of the quality of the overall academic experience was 89, which exceeds comparable schools in this region. The professors' interesting rating was a 95 and the professors' accessible rating was an 88.  And, of course, this publication also picks up our #16 graduate entrepreneurship program rating announced earlier in cooperation with Entrepreneurship Magazine.

October 2009 - MBA Students Compete in Ballard Morton New Venture Competition

Five student teams from the Entrepreneurship MBA and European MBA programs competed in the Ballard Morton New Venture Competition on October 16 and 17 for more than $20,000 in prizes. Nanomark Therapeutics won the $8,000 top prize for their cancer drug called AUra, which uses gold particles to target only cancer cells to reduce side effects of treatment for ovarian cancer patients. The prize money will be used to further the development of each business concept and all teams will represent UofL when competing in national business plan competitions in the spring semester.

July/August 2009 - Entrepreneurship MBA Students Study Abroad
Three students from the Entrepreneurship MBA program traveled to Leipzig, Germany and Prague, Czech Republic for two weeks to study at the Leipzig Graduate School of Management with students from many different countries. They visited local companies such as Porsche and met with executives to learn about business in the European Union.
July 2009 - Social media expands MBA recruiting efforts 
The MBA Office expanded its recruiting efforts by joining Facebook, Twitter and Skype to be more accessible for prospective students. Connect with us on these social media outlets to see continuous updates about our programs or chat live with our admissions staff.
June/July 2009 - European students start and end their MBA program at UofL
UofL's European MBA program begins in Louisville, then students return to Europe to study for one year at a local university before returning to UofL to finish their degree.  This summer, first-year and second-year students spent five weeks on campus working toward their MBA and many American students joined their classes for an heightened cultural experience.
May 2009 - International Trips
Students and faculty traveled to China, Vietnam and Thailand for a 10-day cultural excursion visiting businesses and meeting with company executives to learn more about how business is conducted across the globe. View student and faculty photos of these trips on our UofL MBA Facebook page.

May 2009 - Entrepreneurship MBA Orientation

The 16th Entrepreneurship MBA cohort met for the first time on  May 15-16 for their orientation dinner and team building day at Wooded Glen Retreat and Conference Center. Students got to know one another quickly by working together to accomplish the challenges put before them.

May 2009 - Moot Corp Global Business Plan Competition

Capping the University of Louisville’s most-successful year ever in business plan competitions, Entrepreneurship MBA students from the College of Business Forcht Center for Entrepreneurship tied and set records by placing two teams among the top four at the 26th annual Global Moot Corp Competition. http://business.louisville.edu/content/blogcategory/20/399/ for details.

February 2009 - Cardinal Challenge

Cardinal Challenge logoThe University of Louisville Cardinal Challenge showcases new business concepts developed by MBA students at 12 of the country’s leading university entrepreneurship programs, including UofL. February 2009 - UofL wins Walmart Better Living Business Plan Challenge Regional Round

An innovative recycling concept developed by a team of University of Louisville Entrepreneurship MBA students bested three other new “green business” concepts to win the Midwest Regional competition at the second annual Walmart Better Living Business Plan Challenge , hosted by the UofL College of Business.  The team will progress to the Semi-Finals in Arkansas this April for their shot at the finals and $20K.  The national competition was created by Walmart in 2008 to encourage development of sustainable business concepts and challenge the environmental awareness of the next generation of entrepreneurs.  Nationwide, student teams from more than 40 universities competed in eight regional rounds.  Read the news story.

January 2009 - MBA Orientation

The 2009 Saturday MBA cohort met for the first time on January 9-10 for their orientation dinner and teambuilding day at Wooded Glen Retreat and Conference Center. Students got to know one another quickly by working together to accomplish the challenges put before them.

January 2009 - New MBA Announced

To meet the wide variety of educational needs in our community, the College of Business now offers a Full-Time MBA for recent graduates of any major. UofL’s newest MBA program is designed for recent graduates and offers a part-time, paid internship while students take courses in the afternoon/evening. This cohort-based program starts in August 2010 and students can quickly complete the program in 13 months.

December 2008 - UofL to host Walmart Better Living Business Plan Challenge Regional Round

The UofL College of Business has been selected to host the Midwest Regional Round of the second annual Walmart Better Living Business Plan Challenge.  The national competition was created by Walmart to encourage development of sustainable business concepts and challenge the environmental awareness of the next generation of entrepreneurs.  Nationwide, student teams from more than 40 universities will compete in eight regional rounds for a shot at the finals and $20K.  Regional hosts include UC Berkeley, Columbia, Duke, Howard, Louisville, Northwestern, Arkansas and USC.

October 2008 - Economic Roundtable

Professors Dr. David Dubofsky and Dr. Stephen Gohmann discussed the current economic conditions in the United States and took questions from the audience about the possible economic outcomes due to the upcoming presidential election. October 2008 - Wall Street Day

The Ulmer Career Management Center and MBA Association worked together to bring companies to campus to recruit MBA students for positions in the financial industry. Participating companies included Merrill Lynch, Hilliard Lyons, UBS and Northwestern Mutual.
