Another University of Louisville team has cracked a national “Top 10.” The graduate program at the U of L College of Business has been named one of the “Top 10 in the U.S. for Entrepreneurs” in the fourth-annual rankings by The Princeton Review and Entrepreneur Magazine .

Louisville's IMBA program—The MBA for Entrepreneurial Thinking—is ranked #10, ahead of programs at Penn State, UCLA, UNC, Wake Forest, the University of Illinois, the University of Virginia and Babson College, among others.

The graduate school ranking comes on the heels of the College's undergraduate program for entrepreneurship being ranked in the Top 20 by U.S. News & World Report magazine. The College of Business as a whole is ranked in the top 10 percent nationally.

“And you thought our football team was impressive,” quipped College of Business Dean Charlie Moyer , referring to the #8 ranking the Cardinals earned after beating Miami last weekend.

“This is an extraordinary accomplishment for our faculty, students and alumni. With so many institutions aggressively marketing their programs, this recognition provides a qualitative measurement that truly sets ours apart,” said Moyer.

The new rankings appear in the October issue of Entrepreneur Magazine and on line at www.entrepreneur.com/topcolleges/index.html . More than 700 schools were included in the survey conducted by the Princeton Review. Ranking criteria included the entrepreneurial emphasis of a school's curriculum, mentoring, experiential learning, faculty credentials, and the success of graduating students and alumni. Only 50 schools, 25 undergraduate and 25 graduate schools, made the list.

“We are elated that our MBA entrepreneurship program has been ranked among elite, national programs,” said Dr. Van Clouse , IMBA faculty director and Cobb Family Professor of Entrepreneurship. “It confirms the dedication of our faculty, alumni and students in making U of L the place for world-class educational opportunities.”

Added Moyer, “It also means our students earn a degree that's going to open doors for them.”

The U of L Integrative MBA (IMBA) is a team-based, two-year program designed for working adults seeking entrepreneurial skills to solve problems, capitalize on opportunities and develop new products for their corporate employers, as well as for individuals who want to develop new ventures. The comprehensive program combines students and alumni mentors actively involved in entrepreneurial endeavors with faculty members who have demonstrated success as entrepreneurs.

One of the IMBA program's showcase events—The Aleris New Venture Competition—features teams of IMBA students competing for start-up capital for their new business concepts in a series of on-campus presentations Oct 5 and 7. The Thursday evening/Saturday morning competition is free and open to the public.

The IMBA program is a component of Entrepreneurship Louisville, a suite of U of L initiatives that provide comprehensive education, support, opportunity and reward for entrepreneurial efforts. The program includes the Family Business Center , Cardinal Venture Fund, Institute for Entrepreneurial Research, MBA program, and the nationally ranked undergraduate program. U of L also is one of few institutions in the world to offer a PhD in entrepreneurship.
