How do I know which catalog I am following?
Students usually follow the catalog of the year in which they first enroll at U of L. However, students may choose to follow subsequent catalogs. When can I register? What day?
Registration dates for Fall, Spring, and Summer registration are found under Registration Information online at the Registrar's Office. Registration dates for graduate and undergraduate students are on a priority basis according to the number of course hours completed at the time of registration. For example, seniors are given earlier registration dates than juniors. All registration information is available online at the Registrar's Office.
Why can't I register?
There are a number of reasons why a student may not be allowed to register. Students who owe money to the university in the form of tuition, housing, or parking fines may not be allowed to register until arrangements have been made with the Bursar or Parking Office. If you are a freshman with less than 24 hours or a new transfer student, you are required to be advised before registration. If you have just been admitted, Admissions may not yet have had enough time to put you into the registration system. There may also be technical difficulties.
Business students in good standing may carry a maximum of 17 hours during Fall, Spring, and Summer. In order to take more than the maximum hours, a student must fill out a Request for More than 17 Hours form. This can be done in the Advising Center. A student whose status is Probation, Conditional, or Warning may not increase the number of credit hours to which he/she is restricted.
How do I get into a closed class?
Should a class be closed on the registration system, keep trying to register for it because a space may open in the course before classes begin. The on-line schedule of classes is continually updated as students drop and add courses from their schedule. Always have a list of alternate classes or class sections. In the event you do not get into the class in this way, you may put your name on the class waitlist.
