What Kind of Background is Necessary to Study Computer Information Systems?

     Information systems work requires analytical thinking. Prospective CIS students may begin their preparation in high school by taking courses in computer literacy, computer programming, and mathematics. Also, well-rounded skills in writing, oral presentations, and problem solving are important. Knowledge of Windows, the web, e-mail, and PC application software is expected.

     The Computer Information Systems major prepares individuals to analyze and reengineer business processes, to design and develop web-based applications, and to manage these information systems as strategic resources.

     The CIS program at the University of Louisville is producing the systems analysts and web architects responsible for the web-based information systems fueling the digital economy.
