If you want to advance your career in law and business, the University of Louisville has developed a program that provides you with a broad base of skills and knowledge in both areas. Both law and business are complex and dynamic and there is significant interaction between the two. Students completing the program have a unique advantage in today's competitive marketplace and a strong foundation for future success.
The MBA/JD program is offered jointly by the College of Business and the Brandeis School of Law. Upon successful completion of the programs, the student is awarded both the MBA and the JD degrees.
Curriculum
Typically, the JD courses are taken during the day and the MBA courses are taken in the evening or on Saturday. The JD is a three-year program and the MBA courses will begin in the second year of the JD program. See the Professional MBA and Juris Doctorate pages for a sample curriculum of each program. All electives in the MBA program will be covered by required classes in the JD program and nine JD credit hours will be waived for joint degree students as well.
Admission
To be admitted into the program, the student is required to apply to, and be accepted by, both the College of Business and the School of Law, and meet the admission requirements of both schools, as well as the tuition requirements for both.
While enrolled in the College of Business, the MBA/JD students are subject to all academic policies and procedures applicable to MBA students.
