The secret to success: Faculty and staff that pulled no punches when it cames to donating items.
     Everything from UofL football and basketball tickets, Actors Theater vouchers, and an iPod Touch to Chinese art and crafts, jewelry, home décor and handmade clothes flooded the auction.   Nearly 80 auction items and countless irresistible baked goods were available for faculty, staff and students to bid on or purchase.
     And bid they did.
     Sophomore Equine major Kaelyn Donnelly waited patiently as the auction deadline neared, hopeful she wouldn’t be out bid on a framed and signed Denny Crum poster.
     “I was so excited when I saw I had won the poster,” said Donnelly. “I bought it as a gift and I know the person I bought it for will just love it.”
     Others bid and out bid each other playfully, but the real goal did not go unnoticed.
     “It feels good knowing I work for a place that makes every effort to help our community,” commented Kyle Miller, Assistant Director of Development.  “After all, what is UofL without its community?”
     UofL Cares is a university wide campaign to raise support and awareness for six organizations that enhance our community: Community Health Charities of Kentucky, Fund for the Arts, Kosair Charities, Metro United Way, UofL and WHAS Crusade for Children.
