Plenty of Qs and not many As: College streams roundtable on economic crisis Print

Global Economic Crisis Roundtable streamlined on TV     With plot elements of greed, fear, anger, desperation and a search for the guilty, the College of Business produced a reality show this week that also included hope for the survivors.
Thursday’s “Global Economic Crisis Roundtable” was streamed live from the college’s Horn Auditorium, the first program the college has distributed to an international audience via the web.

Roundtable photo     Panelists David Dubofsky, associate dean for research and faculty development, and Professor of Economics Stephan Gohmann offered starkly different views on the severity and causes of the crisis, but both agreed no one proposal would solve it.
Moderated by Cobb Family Professor of Entrepreneurship Van Clouse, the program was a response to students’ requests to discuss the situation beyond what typical classroom sessions permit. Following the panelists’ individual presentations, Clouse opened the floor to a spirited Q&A session.
Roundtable photo of audience     The auditorium audience included more than 80 students and faculty members, but as evidenced by several questions submitted by e-mail, countless others watched on home computers, hand-held devices or the flat-panel TVs located throughout the College of Business.
As produced by university television’s Mike Peak and Stephan Alfred, the roundtable is archived at Louisville.edu/television/economicroundtable.asx
