Dana and Susan Reinhardt Academic Center nearing completion Print

With the temporary plywood wall stripped away and a newly tiled floor being scrubbed, the College of Business is just days away from unveiling its latest improvement—The Dana and Susan Reinhardt Academic Center.

Located in the South Wing Atrium Level of the COB, the new 3,000 sq. ft. Center includes 12 offices for the Advising staff, a conference room, reception area, student work stations, a workroom and storage area. The space previously was used for office, vending and food service areas.

The adjacent Atrium common area remains available for studying, informal meetings and special events.  A new vending area is planned for phase two of the Atrium Level re-design.
The Center is made possible in part by a $375,000 gift from Dana and Susan Reinhardt.  Dana is a 1975 graduate of the College of Business and owner of Corporate Financial Services, Inc., an estate and business planning firm in Williamsburg Plaza in Louisville’s East End.
“This new center will make a significant difference in the academic experience for our students,” said Dean Charlie Moyer.  “It helps us provide a learning environment that is top drawer, in both facilities and services.”
Within the space, the advising staff will provide students with tutoring services, guide and track their progress toward degrees, assist them in pursuing international studies opportunities and help them meet academic and personal challenges that impact their collegiate careers.
“This is the first step in transforming the Atrium Level into a showcase for the College,” said Dean Moyer.  “We truly appreciate Dana and Susan’s generosity. They’ve helped us create a new point of pride.”
The Reinhardt’s contribution will be commemorated with a wall-mounted recognition piece created by glass artist Fred DiFrenzi.
