CARDINAL VENTURE FUND

Included in the College of Business’s comprehensive approach to entrepreneurship is a venture capital resource for students and alumni who develop new companies.

Photo of Ann and Stewart Cobb The Cardinal Venture Fund is a $250,000 endowment created by Ann and Stewart Cobb as a part of their Cobb Family Professor of Entrepreneurship gift.

The fund is directed by a board that includes College of Business Dean Charlie Moyer, IMBA director and Cobb Family Professor of Entrepreneurship Van G.H. Clouse, Executive-in-Residence Suzanne Bergmeister, entrepreneur and venture capitalist Doug Cobb, business executive Nolen Allen and two representatives of the University of Louisville Foundation.

The maximum the fund can provide any venture is $50,000, and the request must be part of a larger funding effort being pursued by the applicant. In return, the CVF typically requests a place on the company’s board or observer status for a fund director, as well as opportunities for MBA/IMBA students to observe board meetings and other company activities.

To date, companies the CVF has invested in include MobileFit Intelligent Fitness Training Systems, a company created by 2001 MBA graduate Lance Perkins.
