College of Business Academic Honors Program

     The Honors programs provides such advantages as priority registration, Honors Scholars designation on diploma, eligiblility to participate in all University honors program events, and much more.

Honors Scholars Program Eligibility:

  • Incoming freshmen with 28 composite ACT score or 1240 SAT (combined math and verbal SAT score) and minimum high school GPA of 3.5
  • Transfer or current student not admitted as a freshmen-cumulative University GPA of 3.35
  • Continuation in program-cumulative University GPA of 3.35 and successful completion of one honors course each year

Requirements:

  • Completion of at least one three-credit hour honors course each year
  • Completion of at least 24 semester hours of honors courses
  • At least 18 hours taken in the College of Business At least 12 hours at 300 level or above
  • At least 2 upper level seminar courses (or one seminar plus a senior thesis), at least one of which willb e non-business
  • Overall 3.5 final GPA

    Graduation with honors:

  • Candidates for the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in Economics may receive their degree with honors, high honors, or highest honors by meeting the following criteria upon completion of their final semester.

  • Degree with Honors: requires a 3.5 University GPA and a 3.5 GPA in the major
  • Degree with High Honors: requires a 3.75 University GPA and a 3.75 GPA in the major
  • Degree with Highest Honors: students may graduate with highest honors with or without a thesis project.
  • With Thesis Project: requires a 3.75 University GPA and a 3.75 GPA in the major
  • Without Thesis Project: requires a 3.90 University GPA and a minimum 3.90 GPA in the major
  • Honors courses within the College of Business core are generally offered in the following semesters:

    Fall

    Principles of Microeconomics - Econ 201
    Honors Principles of Accounting - Acct 205*
    Commercial Law - Acct 301
    Corporate Finance - Fin 301
    Computer Information Systems - CIS 300

    Spring

    Principles of Macroeconomics - Econ 202
    Honors Principles of Accounting - Acct 205*
    Principles of Marketing - Mkt 301
    (*offered in both Fall and Spring semesters)

         The College of Business will also regularly offer seminars that are open to students across the university. The following seminars are offered in 2008/2009:
