What Kind of Background is Necessary to Study
Equine Business?

     The Equine Business major is designed to prepare a diversified student body for a wide variety of career opportunities in the global equine industry. Effective oral and written communication skills are important for career success. Additionally, students will benefit from courses in accountancy, economics, math, microcomputer application, and statistics.

Graduates from the Undergraduate Equine Industry Program should be able to:

  • Display proficiency in the basic core business disciplines as they relate to the equine industry.
  • Demonstrate their technical writing skills through paper organization, grammar and spelling proficiency, and subject detail.
  • Use quantitative methods to identify and focus on a problem, locate data, and determine the methodology necessary to evaluate decision alternatives.
  • Communicate information concisely and effectively.
  • Understand the current issues that impact the equine industry.
  • Create a business plan for an equine-related enterprise.
