CIS Minor
With the fusion of business processes, organizational
structure, and information technology, every business professional who expects
to be successful should complement their business knowledge with information
technology (IT) competency. Employers increasingly expect business
professionals-including executives-to be equipped with the IT skills necessary
to conceive, initiate, lead and troubleshoot projects. This competency in IT will
allow them to leverage knowledge and skills they acquire in their business
majors in order to become effective managers in today's world. The CIS minor
has been designed to address this growing need.
The minor provides students the edge necessary to leverage their
professional skills and maximize career potential.
The CIS minor will be offered for the first time in the fall
of 2009. The program is available only to College of Business
students. It provides College
of Business students with
the technical skills they need to expand career opportunities, negotiate higher
starting salaries and ultimately advance more rapidly in their careers.
The 15-credit-hour Minor includes five CIS courses :
Fundamentals of Information Systems (150), Software Development I (199),
Database Design (310), Systems Analysis & Design (320) and Infrastructure
Technologies (350).
Information Security Concentration
CIS offers a four-course concentration in Information Security to enhance awareness in this important specialty within computer information systems. InfoSecProgramHandout
