Keg of Nails Sales CompetitionThe first Keg of Nails Sales Competition between students from the University of Cincinnati and the University of Louisville was held on Friday, February 10, 2012.  This year’s Keg of Nails will be Friday, February 21, 2014 at the University of Louisville College of Business.

Each student engages in a videotaped, 20-minute role play selling a product to a Prospect Profile from the National Collegiate Sales Competition. Buyers and judges will be sales professionals from the supporting sponsors.

The judges evaluate each student role play on all aspects of the sales process: approach, needs identification, sales presentation, handling objections, the close, and the overall role play. Students receive feedback from a debriefing session with the judges and from their role play score sheets.


The 2014 Competition:

The Keg of Nails Sales Competition (University of Louisville vs University of Cincinnati) was held at the UofL College of Business on February 21, 2014.  Students presented a role play of selling a product.  Each sales process was videotaped and presented to the buyers and judges, a team of sales professionals from the supporting companies.  Dr. Buddy LaForge, Competition Director, handed out Keg of Nails trophies to each contestant, judge and buyer.  All students are winners as the event is a great learning experience, and each receives valuable feedback on their presentation from the judges.

THE 2013 COMPETITION:

The 2013 Keg of Nails Sales Competition held at the UofL College of Business Friday, February 8 was a great success! Professor Buddy LaForge, competition director, stated, “It was a wonderful learning experience for the students and I think the business people serving as buyers and judges enjoyed the experience and were impressed by the performance of the students.” Congratulations to the top three UofL students: Andrew Sieg, Kaelin Dyar, and Nick George and UC’s top three: Morgan Lauman, Andrew Desmarais, and Lauren Pflum.
